When I first discovered the name of this song (Gheorghe Zamfir’s “The Lonely Shepherd”), I was elated. I remember hearing this song during my childhood, and it always evoked a very powerful response of the senses: memories of the sights and sounds I lived through in Egypt. But on another level, the song in its entirety is nothing less than a masterpiece. Even though it is generally one simple, ascending melody, it’s a wonderful piece to listen to while working, studying or even trying to calm the nerves.
This week has been mostly about relaxation for me, so I guess it’s only befitting that I give something that is equally as relaxing. Hope you enjoy it!
